How Deep Should My Fence Posts Be?

It relies on how tall your fences are. Fence posts are required to ensure stability and strength, which makes it necessary to base the depth of fence posts with the height of the fences. Otherwise, the purpose of using fence posts is useless. Average height fences require 3 to 4 feet deep fence posts. So, if your fences are above or below average, your fence posts need to deeper or shallower respectively. When digging for fence posts, make sure to allow space for the concrete. Aside from the posts itself, concrete is essential in reinforcing the fence to make sure it remains stable.

Should the Fence Touch the Ground?

It depends on the type of fence you have. Ideally, fences are not supposed to touch the ground since earth contains moisture. Fences and moisture are not a good combination since moisture tends to cause rusting on the fence, which can inflict damage, especially on metal material. We strongly suggest maintaining sufficient ground clearance to ensure that your fences remain safe. However, if your fences are intended for a purpose that requires it to touch the ground, then you can leave it as it is. These fences have enough protection to keep it protected from rust in the long run.

Does the Weather Affect the Installation?

Yes, it does. A fine weather is not a problem. However, weather affects the project if it is extreme or constantly changing. Specific weather conditions make it tough for our manpower to work. We usually suspend work when the temperature is either too high or too low, when there’s heavy rain, or too much humidity. Aside from that, forcing to work on these circumstances might end up compromising the quality of work since materials may either contract or swell due to temperature. We don’t want to risk the overall quality of our project by insisting to work in unfavorable weather conditions. As much as we want to avoid delays, it is not worth your safety.
